On sale #contemporaryromance ,magical, romantic, sexy and always with a happy ending

I’m a writer who is in love with happy endings. Currently based in the UK but thinking about joining the next flock of birds I see heading south for the winter.

I love: music, art, flowers, trees, the ocean ...

I work with antiques by day and words by night.

Like a vampire, darkness is my friend, that’s when the silence is only broken by an occasional hoot of owls in the woodlands opposite my current home, and I write.

Forever Blue is a lovely little love story. It is ethereal to the max, and I pictured it, if it was a movie, as being shot with a soft focus lens, with muted colors. That is a testament to Parkes’ ability with the descriptive word.
I loved the story, not so much for the love, but for the other worldliness of the whole thing which takes over the story and the characters.  Jasper’s story is poignant and engaging.

She stared out of her bedroom window at the strange blue glow, flashing in the rain. Was that the man who’d been on her patio?

The Winter Girl  erotic romance from Hot Ink Press, she might be the winter girl but she's hot...
Read a snippet.“Come here babe.” He heard his own voice husky, but controlled. He saw a flicker of surprise in Lily’s eyes. ‘She couldn’t have known I was home.’ Ash hoped she would smile at him, but she didn’t, she simply walked to stand near him.
Ash forced what he wanted to be a hard expression into his eyes. He made a swift move and crushed her to his body. As soon as she was in his arms Ash felt it again, the overwhelming need to hear her say how much she felt for him. Any crumb of emotion in her words would do.
He kissed her mouth hard. Her softness and her response was intoxicating. She kissed him back so willingly he thrust his hips against hers.

Excellent hero’s journey, soft and light love story... I think you’ll enjoy The Winter Girl.

The Winter Girl is inspired by a place I stopped for lunch.
The country town is in the middle of a huge stone circle and surrounding ring ditch. A road runs right through and is quite busy but in good weather, the place buzzes with tourists from all over the world. There is a main street with little shops and cafés. It’s not quite as big as the place I create for the setting of the book, but it’s gorgeously quaint and steeped in history. I found the characters of my book unfolding in my mind as I walked around the place, and especially my leading male character Starr Forrester. I would have loved to meet a real Starr Forrester there, but didn’t. I’m in love with him at the moment he’s so sexy, creative, clever, and naughty…
*****
The Winter Girl

Lily Prescott is only just over a relationship break up when she decides to take up residence in a house left to her by her recently deceased grandmother. Loved for his lifelong association with the town, Starr hides his methods for staying single well from his friends. He’s nearly thirty, gorgeous, a designer, owns a business and on the lookout for his ‘Winter Girl’….

Excerpt:
CHAPTER ONE
Rachel Winestock quietly let herself into the room where her grandmother lay nestled under the sheets, the blankets swallowing her slender frame. Pale and shrunken, she was a frail shadow of what she had been months ago. Rachel smiled at the sound of her steady breathing and light snoring. Nana needed her rest and was stubborn about admitting it. Peering over at her wizened face, her grandmother’s lips appeared chapped.
Damn it. What do these people have against ChapStick?
It wasn’t fair. Nana appeared to be shrinking right before her eyes. Rachel had already lost her parents. She didn’t want to lose Nana too. It was too much. Especially after everything they’d been through over the last year. Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes and she fought against them. She had to be strong.
No.
If Nana woke up and found her crying, there would be hell to pay. Rachel sniffled and forced her emotions in check.
“She needs to get out of here.” Thickety blurted out, his shadowy form hidden in the dimness of the room. His long cat tail flicked his distain, and he edged his head toward Rachel. Red eyes glowed from his smoky black form that could be as solid or transparent as he needed it to be. “The smell is worse than a cat box.”
“Why do you insist on following me? Can’t you just leave well enough alone?” Rachel ground out, trying her hardest not to make eye contact with the demonic cat. He’d been in her life since she could remember and nowhere along the way had it ever been easy. “And I know that. Look at those bruises.”
“Hey. I’m doing you a solid here. You want to know where the missing bracelet is that used to be on her arm? I’d look at that attendant down the hall.”
“The last time I listened to you someone almost died.”
“Don’t you mean ignore? I told you the child was in the house, not to go poking into foundation walls with no structure to hold them up. There’s a difference, sweet cheeks.” Thickety raised his paw and licked at his foot. “Remember I was right. Just because your friend decided to get a little crazy with a mallet and found herself buried was not my fault.”
Rachel sucked in a breath and gritted her teeth. “Look. I came here to see my grandmother. Can we save the arguments for later?”
“Fine.” The cat yawned and crept closer, his eyes focused on Rachel’s Nana. “She used to be livelier than this. What are they feeding her?”

“I don’t know but whatever it is, it’s not enough. She looks terrible.” Weak and more fragile than she had ever seen her, Rachel had to do something to get her out of here. Even if that something was take a job working for Harold Danvers. The past was the past. It was easy to say that until the nightmares came, leaving her shaking in her bed covered in sweat.

From author @kitkatjms a new #Sci-Fi #romance release 'Charlotte and the Alien Ambassador'

AlienAmbassCover

Now available at Changeling Press

Born into a world of silence, Charlotte has always been made to feel inferior to her sister in every way. When her father demands she take Charity’s place in a bride exchange on another world, Charlotte decides to embrace her future and hope for the best. She knows it's her last chance to find happiness, and she'll do anything to grab it with both hands. Borgoz agreed to see the young girl married, but the ethereal woman who steps off the shuttle holds him spellbound. She's everything he's ever wanted, and the one thing he can never have. His job as Chief Councilor of his world is too demanding to give him time for a family of his own… but that doesn't stop him from wanting her. A moment of passion flares bright between them, and unbeknownst to Borgoz, has lasting consequences. When Charlotte returns to her world, he's devastated and realizes he's lost the one thing he wants most. Will he buck the rules of his planet and go after Charlotte? Or will he live with the heartache he feels as the memory of her touch haunts him?

EXCERPT

"Are you Charlotte Mayweather?" the male asked. She nodded. "Why can I understand you and not anyone else?" "I, along with quite a few other males on this planet, have learned your Earth English. However, to make sure you can understand everyone around you, I'm going to implant you with a translator. I'll also implant you with a sensor that will allow you to make purchases on our world. When you select a mate, he will pay for whatever you buy between now and then. Once your mating is approved, you'll be added to his accounts everywhere in Terran Prime." "Thank you for explaining how everything works. I've been a little lost." He frowned. "May I ask a personal question?" She nodded. "Your voice is different from anyone else I've encountered from Earth. Are you from a special region?" "I'm deaf." She pointed to her hearing aids. "These allow me to hear a little, but it's like listening to someone talk under water. I don't always catch everything. And, while it allows me to hear a little, I can't always tell how loud I'm speaking." "Understood. Perhaps, after you've found a mate, they will permit me to run some tests and see if we can restore your hearing." "I was born deaf. My mother had preeclampsia when she was pregnant with me, and I was born early. Some of the bones inside my ear didn't form correctly. A doctor tried to explain it to me once, but I didn't understand the terms he used." The doctor nodded. "Well, we'll take care of those implants today and if you decide you wish me to run tests later, then that's what we'll do." She meekly followed the doctor into a back room and stretched out on the table at his direction. He explained the procedure to her before giving her some gas to put her to sleep. When next she woke, her wrist and the back of her ear hurt a little, but otherwise she couldn't tell she'd had anything done. Charlotte found the other male pacing in the lobby. "Can you understand me now?" he asked. She nodded. "I have a translator, so I understood everything you told the doctor. You're not Charity Mayweather, are you?" "Charity is my younger sister." The Terran's face flushed with anger. "Your father lied to me. He said he was sending Charity here to find a husband, not her deaf older sister." She felt shame burn through her as she realized she was about to be cast aside again. Charlotte knew she should be accustomed to it by now but it still hurt, knowing she wasn't good enough for yet one more man. "If you send me back to Earth, I'll be homeless," she said. "My father said if I didn't come here and find a husband, I would be thrown out of the house and all my accounts would be closed." The Terran muttered something, raked a hand through his waist-length hair, and then faced her with his hands on his hips. "I'm Chief Councilor Borgoz and you'll be staying in my home. You may not be the sister I was expecting, but I'm not about to leave you stranded here. Especially with your condition." "I'm deaf, not stupid." The harshness of his face relaxed into an apologetic look. "I didn't mean to imply that you were stupid, but there are many dangers on a new world for anyone, much less someone who can't hear. I didn't mean to make you feel unwanted or as if you were a burden." "It wouldn't be the first time in my life I've felt that way." His gaze narrowed. "Your father made you feel unwanted?" "And my sister. Be thankful she didn't come in my place. She's a spoiled, selfish brat who always has to get her way or she screams and throws things." It felt good to be honest about her sister without fear of being punished. Everyone always treated Charity as if she was a princess, and Charlotte was tired of it. "Right. Well, let's get you settled. I'm sure you'll want more things than what you brought with you. Once you've had a chance to put your belongings away, I'll take you shopping for anything you had to leave behind." "I don't need much. As long as you have something to wash with, I'll be fine. I have enough clothes to last a week before I'll have to do laundry." "An Earth week is seven days, correct?" She nodded. "A Terran week is eleven days. You'll need more clothes. Things are different here on Terran. We don't have machines in our homes to launder our clothes, and the shop in town that handles it is usually busy. You'll want as many outfits as possible." He crooked his elbow and she curled her hand around it, watching as he hefted her bag as easily if it contained no more than feathers. Charlotte tried to take in the scenery as they walked through Terran Prime. Borgoz explained that, while he had a vehicle to maneuver through the city, he thought she might like the walk to stretch her legs after such a long shuttle ride. When they reached his home, her jaw dropped as she stared at the massive structure. She'd lived in a mansion all her life, but Borgoz's home surpassed that of her father's by a fourth floor and probably another twenty feet in width. She tried not to stumble over her feet as he led her up the stairs and into his home. Charlotte looked everywhere, not wanting to miss a thing. Borgoz handed her bag to another male, and they followed him up the stairs to her room. It was twice the size of her bedroom at home with doors that opened onto a balcony overlooking a garden. It was gorgeous, and for the first time in her life she felt lucky. She was glad her father had sent her here, and had hope that her future would be bright and wonderful. She turned from the fantastic view to find Borgoz studying her. Charlotte couldn't guess his age. There were no wrinkles on his face, but the silver in his hair told her he was probably forty at the least. But then, she didn't know how Terrans aged. For all she knew, he was pushing seventy like the vile old man her father had tried to force her to marry. Borgoz was a handsome man. His purple eyes were dark like a pansy and quite beautiful. Those eyes were taking her in, and she wondered if he found her lacking like everyone else in her life. If she'd known she was coming to a palace, she may have dressed a little nicer for her trip. She tugged on the hem of her tank and wondered if she should change clothes before going shopping with him. He was being kind enough to give her a place to stay, the least she could do was not embarrass him in front of his people. "I'll come back in thirty of your Earth minutes to see if you've finished unpacking. If you're hungry, we can stop for a bite to eat while we're out and then go shopping. Don't hesitate to ask for anything you need. If you can't find me, Helio will help you," he said, indicating the other male. "Thank you." Borgoz gave her a regal nod and then he exited with his servant. Left alone, she quickly unpacked and changed into a pretty sundress so she would be appropriately attired for an outing with someone so important, then she spent the rest of her time admiring the view. Charlotte hoped she'd get a chance to walk through that garden and admire the petals of the vibrant flowers close up. This world was amazing and full of new and wonderful things. She couldn't wait to explore as much of it as she was allowed.

EXCERPT

I think I will enjoy my time here.
Very much.
I’m taking in that magnificent view while I swirl a glass of red wine. Sometimes a girl gets lucky. It’s well past midnight now, but I can’t sleep. Beyond the beauty of my surroundings, of the warmth on my skin this late in the year, is the sound of the sea. I am truly alone in my own little nirvana. No one knows where I am, and I don’t care.
There’s a flash of movement from the corner of my eye. Maybe I’m not as alone as I thought. My heart flutters a little. Then I see him walking the beach towards the water, under the great moon above. My magnificent view just got even more spectacular. He’s fully naked.
My attention is riveted now as I sip my wine. I can’t see a lot of detail in the darkness, but I can see he is tall, with long hair. Nicely built, and if my eyes don’t deceive me, well-endowed as well. Now, this is a very interesting development.
I watch as he enters the water, and I shiver just a little as if my own skin was touched by the cool waters. He disappears momentarily beneath the dark sea, and emerges, throwing back his long hair. I know I should look away, I should respect his privacy, but I cannot. I am a voyeur in my own little world.
I’m not really sure how much time I spend watching him. Perhaps only a few minutes, maybe even an hour. He emerges from the waves, a mere silhouette now in the moonlight. He stops and looks straight to me. My first reaction is to want to drop to the floor. But my mind tells me he cannot see me in the darkness.
So, if he cannot see me, why does he stare in my direction?

When his eyes met hers, her heart soared. There was desire lurking in those green depths. “Jace.”
Without giving it any thought, she pressed her mouth against his full pouty lips. Jace reluctantly pulled back. “Ah, Fi . . . We can’t do this. You have a mate.” “There is a jackass that my father promised me to. He’s not my mate.” Zane had shoved his tongue in her mouth enough times for her to know the taste of him wasn’t pleasing or addictive like a mate’s would be. She wanted to taste Jace now, just once. “I hate him.” “I know.” He took her face in his hands and pressed a kiss to her forehead. “But your father would absolutely kill me.” He chuckled against her skin. “One kiss, Jace. Just one,” she begged, turning her face to meet his. Her hands slid over his as he still cupped her face delicately. “One,” he breathed into her mouth for a moment as if deciding their future, and then his mouth claimed hers, hard and fast. His fingers slid into her curls and he tugged her head closer.

Hi! I'm an author from the Midwestern United States. I'm an avid reader of anything romance! I've worked as a travel agent, nursing assistant, and a paralegal before chasing my dream of full-time writing. I love to travel, swim, cook, and I'm more than a little addicted to a certain social media website...
Currently, I write paranormal and science-fiction romance. My plan is to branch out in several romance sub-genres, but my books will always end in the infamous Happily Ever After.
Always hot, always sexy, my male characters will protect their women at all costs, and my female characters will be...I like to call it "feisty." I believe every story and character should be unique, and it's something I always strive to do.
Reading should be an escape from everyday life, so I hope you enjoy my version of a vacation for you!
Fun Facts about me: 1. I love birds! I have one (a parakeet). 2. I'm double-jointed, which led to teasing as a kid (which I also found funny)! 3. I have a shoe addiction! Mainly embellished flip-flops, but other kinds too (not heals, I'd break my ankles). 4. I missed a college 4.0 GPA in the very last semester when one professor gave me a B (still upset about that!)! 5. I am very OCD about certain things (see #6). 6. I have an extensive DVD/BluRay collection and it has to be kept in alphabetical order! 7. My favorite vacations involve a cruise. I've been on 15 so far! 8. I'm quiet and sort of shy until I get to know a person. 9. I'm quick witted and believe sarcasm is my best friend. 10. I hate hot weather.

EXCERPT

The Eagle & The Box - Teaser 2
Josh Foxglove and Marcus Colton are acquaintances, with an attraction two years in the making. When Josh finds himself backed into a financial corner, he comes to Marcus asking for a favor…
Before Josiah could shut the door, Marcus grabbed the handle and held it open. He winced as the desperation leaked through his pores, making his voice warble and waver as he asked, “Would you like something to drink, maybe? Unless you have to be somewhere…”
“No. I’m good. I mean…” Josiah inched toward the door. “A drink would be good.”
“Okay.” Marcus held the door ajar and stepped aside as Josiah sidled through the opening. After leading the man to his makeshift office, Marcus pointed to the folding wooden chair and wondered if it was sturdy enough to hold the man’s weight. The bottle and tumbler were still on the desk where he’d left them. He reached into the bottom drawer, extracted another glass and poured two fingers into each.
Josiah accepted the whiskey and tilted his chin in salute before tossing it down. Both of them shuddered and grinned. Marcus asked, “Another, Josiah?”
The man extended his glass for a refill. “You can call me Josh. I like that better. Sounds less… biblical.”
Relishing the burn in his throat, Marcus murmured, “That’s good. So, Josh, what did you want to talk about?”
“I need a favor.” He shifted on the chair. It creaked. “Thing is, I don’t got the right…”
Josh grimaced, his face a war of emotions Marcus could barely fathom. Finally he said, “It ain’t like we got history or we’re friends or nothing like that. We hardly know each other.”
Marcus listened to his own heartbeat, wondering what was driving a man like Foxglove to come and ask for a favor and to be so obviously torn up about it. So he said, “Friends give favors. That’s what friends do.”
“But, we ain’t friends.”
Marcus held up the half empty bottle. “Then I guess we’re gonna need more of this.”

EXCERPT

“Cord, come dance with me,” I suggest, sliding out of my chair and holding my hand out to her.
She looks up at me in surprise then blushes and reaches her good hand up to clasp mine and we head to the dance floor. The music has all been slower songs, which is good because with her broken arm Cord wouldn’t be able to get too crazy.
I slide one arm around her waist and pull her against me while taking her free hand in mine. We sway to the music and I notice the beat changes into another song which is a bit faster, so I dip Cord back then nudge her gently with my arm at her waist while pulling her other arm, making her go in a circle before pulling her body back up against mine.
She giggles. “This is fun, and you’re quite good,” she says smiling up at me. “Even with my bum arm.”
I smile back and respond, “thank you.” Then we continue on, me dipping, swaying, pushing away pulling her back against me. I twist her so that her back is against me and we sway in time to the music. I drop my head against her shoulder and lay my cheek against hers.
“You’re pretty good at this yourself,” I say into her ear and feel her body tremble against mine as she lays her head back against my chest. ““Even with your bum arm.”
We sway a bit more, before I spin her around again and dip her before bringing her up against my body, lifting her to where her face is close to mine. We are still swaying slightly as the music changes again, and then, looking into her eyes and her flushed face, I lean closer, my eyes falling to her lips.
I feel her take in a breath and hear it catch in her throat. I release her hand and slide both of my arms around her, one on her waist and the other around her back. Her hand moves to my shoulder and I feel her pull me closer. My eyes flick back up to hers, which are locked onto my mouth. Without another thought, I lean in and press my lips against hers softly. My hand moves to her nape as I cradle her against me.
I feel a shock at the first touch of our lips and then I feel Cord press herself even closer to me as she pulls at my shoulder. She is everything I have been wanting and more than I had hoped for. Her lips are soft and warm, molding against mine; her body is lean and muscled, though still soft. Her hand moves up to my hair and she lightly scratches my scalp and I moan into her mouth feeling the touch all throughout my body.
I move my lips against hers, lightly swiping my tongue against her lower lip, coaxing her to open for me. She does, sucking in a shuddering breath, and I thrust my tongue into her mouth. I feel as well as hear her groan in to my mouth as she angles her mouth against mine.
I pull back from her mouth and move to her neck, lightly leaving open- mouthed kisses along her jaw and neck. I have waited years to finally kiss her, and I have wanted her more the last few days. “Cord,” I whisper and I feel her body stiffen.
I pull back and look at her in question. She looks up at me with indecision all over her face, though I can see the desire in her eyes.

Resurrected
They’ll risk everything – friendship, love, even their lives. Samantha’s choice...
Samantha doesn’t remember the incident that landed her in the Romani Realms, a purgatory filled with trapped souls, where fears influence reality. Her gift of knowing whether a soul is pure draws her to the mysterious Daniel, and her heart soon follows. Unexpectedly, she also experiences a deep kinship and the overwhelming urge to help the girl others fearfully refer to as “The Reckoned.” Will she sacrifice her newfound love to save a stranger?
Charlotte’s guilt...
Charlotte believes her dalliance with the evil Raven’s protege and lover, Phineas, is what caused Samantha’s demise. Armed only with the Amulet of Pollux, a pendant that contains secrets from the past, Charlotte time travels deep into the Realms to find her friend before Raven does. Clinging to the hope that Phineas may still help and love her, she will risk her own life to bring Samantha back.
Suki’s trial...
It’s up to Suki to save both girls, even knowing her powers will be limited. With the help of her protector, James, Suki prepares to face the dangerous obstacles awaiting her. But once in the Realms a terrible secret is revealed that threatens their relationship and her very existence.

EXCERPT

As we entered the bar, my appetite became stunted with the sight of Phineas sitting in my favorite seat with two leggy blondes on either side of him. They looked to be about twenty-one with the sexual confidence of cougars as evidence by the fact that one had her hand on Phineas’ upper thigh and the other had an arm around his neck. He whispered into each of their ears, and they immediately left.
I thought about turning and leaving as well, but without even a glance in my direction, he spoke. “It’s about time.”
“I see that you’re not suffering from loneliness with Charlotte gone,” I seethed.
“I don’t even know them. They just...made themselves at home,” Phineas shrugged.
He was as handsome as ever so it was easy to see why he wouldn’t be alone at a bar, but still the sight of him with a girl other than sweet, seventeen-year-old Charlotte, when I knew how she had fallen for him and what the result of that infatuation had been for her, made me shake with anger.
“And you just couldn’t bring yourself to ask them to leave?”
“Suzette, everyone has their own ways of handling grief.”
My mouth dropped open with the implication of his words. Samantha had lost her life and Charlotte may have thrown hers away and for what? The mistake of falling for the wrong guy.
