A saga like no other 'Heiress in Love,' release 'Upon your Love' @marielavender1 #historicalromance

Upon Your Love

The Hill family saga concludes as loyalties are questioned, faiths will be tested and undying love may come at a terrible cost…
Fara Hill, mother and faithful wife, is torn between her family at home and her urge to be at sea. Soon, she learns some disturbing truths. Was the past a fairy tale instead of reality?
Chloe Hill, loving wife and young mother, questions her faith when her husband sets an ultimatum she cannot meet. Will she be able to keep her marriage from falling apart?
Adrienne Bellamont Hill, born of a valiant captain and a fiery redhead, is untamed to her core and will bow to no man. Then Christian du Plessis enters her life with an offer she can’t refuse. Discovering the man behind the polished gentleman, she is drawn to him in many ways. Holding out for love is a family tradition, but can she resist the temptation of passion?
Christian finds this young woman to be a fascinating challenge, and is torn between keeping his distance from her and succumbing to her charms. A fierce battle of wills ensues as he sees she is much more than he ever imagined.
But danger lurks, threatening to destroy everything…
Can these two strong-willed individuals unite in the cause before time runs out?

The neigh of a horse brought her out of her reverie and she looked over, but her mare stood quietly beside the stream. Adrienne’s instincts nagged at her and she stood up, her ears on alert. The clomp of hoof beats came to her on the swift afternoon breeze. Was the rider coming from the estate or perhaps it was simply a stranger? In any case, a sense of unease grew in the pit of her stomach and she reached down to unearth a small dagger Gabriel had gifted to her two summers ago. She kept it in a sheath around her thigh. Gabe had always said that if she didn’t have a sword on hand, it was best to have something. And she couldn’t agree more.

She clucked her tongue to alert Persephone and led her quickly by the reins under the cover of the trees. The rider was closer now and her mare shifted uneasily, blowing a breath out of her nose. She must have heard the approaching horse as well. “Shh. It’s all right,” Adrienne whispered, stroking her neck. She tied the reins to a tree and waited.
When the rider appeared from the forest, she couldn’t see him clearly. It was a man—that much she was certain—but the lapels of his dark coat and the thicket of limbs brushing her face kept her from placing his identity. He had dark hair and was tall, his body lean and muscled. She watched as he got down from a fine, black stallion and led it to the stream for a rest. The man took a drink from his cupped hands. He wiped the remnants of the water from his chin, and then seemed to search the area nearby. She shivered. Was it possible the man had been tracking her? If that was the case, her dagger would certainly come in handy. Adrienne crouched on alert, spying through her vantage point in the trees. From behind, she observed as the tension eased from his shoulders and he sighed.
A frisson of unease ran through her again. Taking it as a sign, she confirmed he was still faced away before she quietly eased out of her haven. Stepping up behind him, she lifted her dagger to his throat. A smile of grim determination danced over her lips as he stiffened.
“Who are you? Why are you here? Are you following me?”
            “What if I was?”
Fine shivers moved along the surface of her skin, caused by the deep timbre of his voice.
“I would have to ask for your reasons, Monsieur.”
“I haven’t come to kidnap you, if that’s what you’re worried about,” he sighed. “I didn’t expect you’d be prepared. I commend the effort, of course.”
She frowned. The compliment threw her for a moment, but she then brushed it off. Surely, he ridiculed her, and thought he could overtake her somehow. She shook her head. He would be gravely disappointed.
“You will state your reasons for your presence and your identity, sir.”
            “And if I don’t?”
“You will regret it, of course.”
“Indeed? Do you intend to harm an unarmed man?”
She scoffed. “Unarmed? No, I doubt that. With the way you appeared to be tracking me, I am sure you’re quite armed.”
“Right again. What will you do about it?”
She shrugged. “This is Bellamont land. You’ve clearly trespassed. If I must, I will drag you straight back to the house. You know, I believe the foreman has a Winchester sporting rifle. He can be quite formidable when he puts his mind to the task.”
            “I’m sure,” he murmured.
            “What say you then?”
“I say, Mademoiselle, that you have no idea who you’re dealing with.”
Before she could open her mouth to take him to task, she felt a blow to her arm and the numbing pain caused her to drop the knife. Everything else happened in a blur. As he turned, he caught her leg, which caused her to collapse. But, before she landed, he grasped her up in his arms. He was too close, she thought. Panic threatened inside of her, but she fought it by degrees. She was a fighter, not some idiot who would succumb to a man’s power. Gabriel had taught her many tricks, as had her father. She forced herself to go limp so that he’d pull her closer. She let her eyes drift closed and pretended to have swooned.
            “Mon Dieu,” he whispered.
Then she unmanned him with a swift rise of her knee. He coughed out a grunted response, releasing her.
She retreated from him, intent on finding her dagger, but did not see it. The leaves in the grass crunched beneath her hands and knees as she struggled to her feet. She would have to rely on the resources of the forest to save her if he pursued further. Somehow, she doubted he’d be able to. She turned and her mouth dropped open as she looked at her attacker.
His dark hair had fallen over one eye and he was hardly doubled over in pain. No, he scowled at her now and he seemed quite well. She’d missed her target, she realized. His identity shocked her further. She felt quite stupid for not recognizing him, even from behind. But, why had Christian tried to attack her?
             “How…,” she whispered.
“You are not as fast as I, Mademoiselle.” Then he laughed, but there was no mirth in his expression. His eyes seemed darker suddenly. “You little brat,” he bit out. “You almost had me.”
She sucked in a breath and, when she saw him advance, she backed away. But, it effectively put her back right up against a nearby tree. She cursed. Christian closed in, blocking her in with his arms as he braced his hands on the tree trunk. Her breaths came out in harsh pants and her stomach had fallen somewhere at her feet. Dear God, what would he do? She jerked her arms out to break his hold, but his muscles were like the ratlines between the shrouds of a mast in a ship’s rigging. Solid. Struggling with his obvious intimidation of her, she managed, “Why are you trying to kidnap me?”
Some of the arrogance left his face. “I’m not. I thought we already established that.”
“Then why… this?” she asked, weakly. And why couldn’t she breathe? His clean, male scent caused her to feel lightheaded. No, she thought. That just had to be terror.
“I wanted to get you alone so that we could continue our plans. I didn’t mean for you to see me as a threat. I certainly didn’t expect a dagger at my throat.” He reached out and cupped her face, stroking the line of her jaw gently with his thumb.
Adrienne gazed into his nearly black eyes. She thought she saw a hint of admiration and something more, perhaps desire, in his gaze.
“P… plans?” she stammered, annoyed with the hypnotic effect he had on her. And what was that strange, but wonderful scent coming off him? She detected cologne which contained a hint of fresh pine. But then, she’d smelled it before, both in her room and at the Broussard’s engagement party. Even though the fragrance was pleasant, she tried to ignore it.
            “Our matchmaking endeavor, chére.”
            “Oh. That.”
            “Yes, that. Did you forget?”
She cleared her throat. “No, of course not.” Her resolve returned in full force then. She slapped his hand aside and sidestepped him. Stalking away to locate Persephone, she unearthed her mare from the brush in no time. When she returned, he still stood there, watching her. She shivered again.
Mon Dieu, she thought. Why was this happening to her? Why did the man tie her in knots?

Loving Sweetness #romance #coverreveal from @AuthorJude_O

Sweet series, book 2
by Jude Ouvrard

Genre: Contemporary Romance

The beginning of a new journey for Iris is both exciting and stressful but she’s not ready to face what’s to come. Neither is Calvin.

Iris is ready to embrace her dream job with the faithful support of her boyfriend. Their love strengthens as they enjoy their life together. Between traveling and meeting new people, she views Calvin’s life and everything that comes with it with a new perspective.

Their life seems perfect, at least until Iris becomes the target of a manipulative soul who proves to be a nasty adversary. Stubborn and Fierce, Iris fights for her man, but will it be enough?

Excited about the lunch time approaching in less than an hour, I couldn’t wait to hit the gym with my man. Last night had been one hell of a night. He totally took possession of me, claimed me like never before. Shopping for lingerie had been more challenging for him. However, it always made me feel a little naughty to tease him that way.

My feet were hurting because of the new shoes, but that wasn’t going to stop me. I checked my mailbox, smiling to see all emails taken care of. My stomach was already demanding food, but the gym sounded more appealing.

Calvin, clad in sweats, his hair in a sloppy bun, everything I loved about him.

“Babe, I can’t make it to the gym. Candice asked me to check a few things with her.”

That was it. I had enough. “No, you’re coming.” Before I knew it, I was out of my office and walking into hers. She was done playing that game with me. So fucking done. Enough! “Candice, you’ve got to stop doing this.” I didn’t knock, I didn’t give her a chance to allow me into her work place.

"I beg your pardon.”

“I know what you’re doing and this is going to stop now. Calvin and I are together, we are a couple. You better accept it.”

"Or what?” she asked with a hint of a smile. “You’re using work to get to him and to push me away. I won’t let it happen. I’m not going anywhere.”

“Me neither. I’m sorry, Iris, but I have work to do. Will you excuse me?”

The nerve that tramp had. My body trembled with anger, my fists were ready to attack. I despised her. She enjoyed making my life here a real nightmare. “I’m not done with you. I will find a way to get to you, I promise. Calvin will see your true colors.”

"Oh, Iris,” she said using an almost innocent voice. “How was the lingerie shopping? Did Calvin spend a small fortune on lace? I know...”

I cut her off, getting as close as possible to her, almost threatening her.

"You are...” I stopped myself just in time. I couldn’t see clearly anymore. “You know exactly what you are.” I could still hear the anger in my voice. Her mind games were getting the best of me.

"Babe.” Calvin showed up at the door of Candice’s office, looking perplexed. My eyes found his, but I quickly looked away. I couldn’t explain myself, I had gone mad. I hurried to my office hoping he would follow me so I could try to explain myself, but he didn’t.

Because each day she witnesses lucky humans rocketing to a better life in the stars. Seeing an opportunity to stow away on sexy Captain Ciro’s shuttle to Alpha, Aurora acts first and thinks later. Trouble is, without a plan she’s flailing in space and lost on an alien world.

A string of rash decisions and a hasty retreat make for a perfect storm of danger, deceit, and lust. Will Aurora escape the evil Xyran who has her in his sights? Will Captain Ciro ever tear his attention from his gorgeous copilot and notice her? And what do the Alphans mean when they say a woman will complete them?

The only thing to do is fly with them and see where she lands.

Tentatively, Aurora approached the club. The smell of food grew stronger, as did the sound of voices. Before her was a set of steps leading downward. A polished wooden handrail was attached to the wall.
She took hold of it and allowed her palm to slide down as she descended. Warmth wrapped around her, and the sound of voices competed with the music. Passing several doorways, some closed, some ajar, she arrived at a large wooden double doorway. It was only open a few inches so she paused and looked inside.
Her heart sank. There didn’t appear to be any females. She’d stand out way too much if she just wandered in.
Several small animals were on spits being roasted over a fire, and she guessed they were the source of the heavenly smell. Alphans stood and sat around the fire, drinking from stout glasses and apparently immersed in conversation. It was clearly a place to eat and drink, and discuss the events of their planet.
The music came from a large speaker at the far end of the room. Manned by an Alphan, he sat with a surly expression next to a control deck, his eyebrows low and his mouth in a tight straight line.
Looking around, Aurora saw that most of the Alphans wore serious expressions. Unlike when humans got together with food and music and friends, Alphans weren’t jovial. The ambiance was solemn, though not threatening.
She licked her lips, saliva pooling in her mouth. When had she last eaten freshly roasted meat? She couldn’t remember. But there was no point getting her hopes up. There was no way she’d get any of the food being prepared.
A sound behind her startled Aurora. Turning, she realized it was coming from one of the rooms she’d walked past. She heard it again. A low rumble of an Alphan’s voice, then the scrape of metal on the hard floor, a chair perhaps.
Being sure to keep her footsteps silent, she walked up to the doorway. She didn’t know why. Something was drawing her to it— curiosity, fascination, a need for connection.
Peering through the inch wide crack between door and frame, Aurora could hardly believe what she saw. Captain Ciro and his copilot, Luc, were in the room.
Luc was sitting on a low chair with his hands flat on his thighs, fingers spread. He had his eyes closed and his head tipped back, his hair was tousled around his shiny horns and hung down his back. It was much longer than she’d thought it was. His throat was extended and vulnerable and his golden chest exposed as his pilot’s jacket was undone to his navel.
Beside him stood Captain Ciro. He was looking down with an expression of affection and lust.
Aurora pressed her lips together and clenched her fists. Were Ciro and Luc an item? It certainly seemed as if they were.
Ciro stroked the tip of his index finger over Luc’s mouth.
Luc dragged in a deep breath, his chest rising and his jacket slipping a little wider.
“Shh ... be patient,” Ciro whispered. “I need it as much as you do.” He ran his finger over Luc’s chin, then the protrusion of his throat and down to his chest.
“It’s been a long day,” Luc said, tipping his head back further as a tremble attacked him. “That was a close call with those Xyrans.”
“It’s always a risk when we pass that close to the Partin System.”
“I know, but—”
“Shh, there’s no buts.” Ciro stooped and placed his lips a whisper from Luc’s. “The ucrium radiation deflected their attention.”
“I know.”
Ciro slanted his head kissed Luc. A hard, sure kiss that spoke of passion and support, love and a shared history.
Aurora pressed her fingers to her lips. She should leave. This was clearly a private moment in one of the club’s private rooms. No place for a human female to be hanging out.
But she couldn’t. The scene held her captivated. It was as if a magnet was holding her feet to the ground.
Praying no one would find her, she continued to watch as the kiss deepened.
Ciro was busy with his hands, stroking Luc’s chest and belly, but Luc remained still. Almost as if he’d been ordered to sit that way.
By who?
But Luc was a mighty Alphan warrior. He could refuse to do anything he didn’t want to.
He wants this.
Ciro rested his hand over Luc’s groin and squeezed.
Luc groaned, a vibrating rumble that mixed with the music.
Ciro broke the kiss. “You’re hard.”
“I need to mate,” Luc said, “with you ... now.”
Ciro straightened and began to undo the golden buckle on his belt, his movements swift and efficient. He stared down at Luc as he did so, and it was evident, due to the large bulge in his groin area, that he was erect.
Aurora’s head spun. She had to go. She had to stay.
Ciro and Luc were homosexual. Seeing them together, doing the deed, would be a fantasy come true—a fantasy she hadn’t known she’d had until moments ago.
But why were they here? In a room in a club?
Clearly they weren’t too worried about being seen by other Alphans. But what would they make of her watching?
They wouldn’t find out. She’d stay just another minute and…

(#DOS Part One)

Release Date: February 28, 2017
The debut novel of a masterfully emotional, high stakes trilogy that will have readers forfeiting tradition to gamble with love…

December and Austin have a traditional, storybook marriage complete with defined roles. Married young, they’ve shared nearly a decade of passion and love. December’s submissive nature is perfectly suited for her husband’s authoritative, yet adoring personality and he seamlessly holds the indisputable role of head of the household.
But Austin harbors secrets, and the pressure of losing his job makes those festering skeletons impossible to ignore.
Turning to alcohol instead of his wife, Austin finally drives December into the arms of their closest friend, Cord, despite her intense loyalty. Cord has loved December since the day they met. His moral compass is challenged and lines are blurred when Austin steps aside and insists Cord take his place.
Forfeiting all, Austin must face a harsh truth. Take control of his life, or forever lose the woman he loves.

It was like he no longer saw her, just looked right through her, when she used to be all he could see in the whole world. No matter what she did, he stayed away—alone—wandering through the house at night and sleeping all day. She had pride too, and he’d been chipping away at it, scarring her with deep tattoos of doubt.
Something happened to a woman when her husband no longer touched her. First there were the superficial frustrations of unrequited desire, but then it became something worse. The insecurity, fear, and uncertainty ate away at her insides.
Her self-esteem fractured, perhaps beyond repair. Tiny little shards of self-worth were all she had left. Even if he came to her now, begging and full of apologies, she feared someone might get cut.

This rut seemed to get deeper and darker every day. She was losing sight of the light and worried she’d never see herself out. She needed to feel alive, feel something. She needed to reclaim control and pull herself back to her feet, which was why this job with Cord was imperative.
